The Delta Artists Association is proud to announce their 14th annual member exhibition set to open at E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center at the Roger D. Malkin Gallery. The opening reception will be held Friday, November 13 from 5-7 pm with live music, food and drinks. This years juror is Jerrod Partridge of Jackson, MS. Jerrod is a full-time artist and drawing/painting instructor living and working in the Fondren neighborhood of Jackson, MS. He and his wife have three young children who often provide inspiration for paintings. Jerrod grew up in Mobile, AL, and has been in the Jackson area since 1995, except for a short stint in New York City where he received a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the New York Academy of Art in 2004. His undergraduate degree is from Mississippi College where his primary study was Graphic Design. During his undergraduate years he spent a semester in London studying art history. Jerrod is a 2011-2012 recipient of a Visual Arts Fellowship from the Mississippi Arts Commission. Jerrod leads groups on a visual exploration through drawing and painting the Tuscany region of Italy each summer. The majority of Jerrod’s work is done in oils on his own handmade paper. Jerrod says about his work, “I am often trying to find beauty and harmony in the overlooked chaos of the everyday. “With such a beautiful variety of works from artists across Mississippi as well as several other states, this exhibition is sure to be a success. The exhibit will remain on display through December 18, and all works will be for sale. Support local art!
