The Greenville Arts Council is excited to announce that it will be hosting the Delta Artist Association’s 11th Annual Member Exhibit on November 2, 2012, at 5:00 pm in the Roger D. Malkin Gallery at the E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center.
In 2000, a group of the Mississippi Delta’s very own visual artists collaborated to form the Delta Artist Association. Currently, the DAA has expanded to include more than 50 artists. Each year, the GAC hosts an annual exhibit to showcase the work of the talented and dedicated members of the Delta Artist Association.
“Each year we host the DAA. It is one of the biggest exhibits of the year. This time, we decided to have the show open right before the holidays. Come support local artists and get some of your holiday shopping done!” stated MacKenzie Stroh, Executive Director of the Greenville Arts Council.
The DAA’s 11th Annual Member Exhibit will be juried by Vicksburg Artist Katalin Gergo. Originally from Hungary, Katalin arrived in the United States in 1957 and enrolled in The Cleveland Institute of Art. She lived and worked in New Orleans from 1960-2005. She spent over 30 years teaching art, 10 years privately and for 20 years as a faculty member at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art. Her work has been featured in several publications, such as the American Artist and Watercolor magazines. She is represented by the Attic Gallery in Vicksburg, MS as well as the Jean Bragg Gallery of Southern Art in New Orleans, LA.
The 11th Annual DAA Member Exhibit will be on display in the Roger D. Malkin Gallery until December 21, 2012. Gallery hours are from 10 am – 4pm Mon. – Fri. and Saturdays by appointment only.
