VISTA Celebrates Independence Day through Art

In honor of Independence Day, Angela Eustache, AmeriCorps*VISTA member of the Greenville Arts Council, will be leading an art project with 60 Metcalf Summer Enrichment Program participants in grades K-10 at the Metcalf City Hall on Thursday, June 28, 2012. The project will consist of creating individual American flags and a mural of the American flag with words that symbolize our country. The project will begin with a brief teaching of the purpose of the holiday, which announced the separation of America from Great Britain through the Declaration of Independence. “This project will give the children a chance to express and display patriotism for our country while learning about the meaning of Independence Day.” says Eustache.
