The Greenville Arts Council is seeking a Project Cataloger to work on our Permanent Art Collection during the summer of 2012. This project is focused on cataloging, researching, conducting conservation assessments, and photographing works of art in the Greenville Arts Council’s permanent collection. This position will require approximately 20 hours of work per week with flexible hours until the project is completed. This is an unpaid internship, however college credit may be available for currently enrolled students depending on university requirements.
The Greenville Arts Council promotes the rich cultural heritage of the Mississippi Delta region and stimulates and encourages cultural activities, arts appreciation, arts education, and the creative works of artists. As the primary promoter of the arts in our area, the Greenville Arts Council offers art classes to children and adults, organizes community events, presents an ongoing series of free exhibits featuring visual artists from the area and the state, and coordinates educational programs which teach arts-integration in local schools.
The qualified candidate will have excellent communication skills; works well under deadline; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; the ability to work collaboratively. Experience with cataloging works of art in a gallery or museum setting is a plus.
Applicants must be 18 years of age of older and candidates that are seeking/possess a bachelor’s degree are preferred. Applicants must be responsible and have a reliable method of transportation.
