The Brent Sisters Official CD Release Party

February is shaping up to be an exciting month! We are SO looking forward to hosting the Brent Sisters in Concert on February 18th.

While many music connoisseurs are already familiar with widely-touring, boogie/blues shantuse, Eden Brent, some may not know that her two sisters – Jessica and Bronwynne – also sing and compose. They have performed together publicly only a few times going back to the Levee Break Festival in 1990, and more recently at the Delta Bear Affair in Rolling Fork.

Those who enjoy three-part harmonies and believe there may be some veracity in the idea of a musical blend among siblings will have another rare opportunity to see the Brent Sisters in concert, Saturday, Feb. 18, 7 p.m., for a fund-raising event in the Jake & Freda Stein Hall at the E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center in Greenville.

Tickets are $10 in advance through the Greenville Arts Council (662)332.2246; and $15 at the door. Will Call tickets are available for the event, give us a ring at the office and we’ll reserve your tickets for you.  This is a table seating event and adult beverages will be available. Know that you’re coming in a group? We have 13  tables and that can be reserved for $80 ($10/ticket for the amount of seats at table). Otherwise it is general seating. Proceeds from the event benefit the GAC, the Delta Cotton Belles and other non-profit cancer-fighting organizations.  Carole Brent passed away from breast cancer in 2006.

The Brent Sisters will debut songs from their new CD, “Party Dress: Songs of Carole Lamb Brent,” at the Greenville Art Council’s fundraiser event at the Jake & Freda Stein Hall. The songs, composed by their late mother, were recorded at the behest of their father, Howard. Tricia Walker at the Delta State University’s Delta Music Institute, produced the CD.

The sisters will sing a few of their own songs and then come together to perform their mother’s songs backed by a band consisting of Kern Pratt, guitar; Barry Bays, bass; Haley Bennett, drums; and Jim Spake, saxophone/clarinet.

Bronwynne Brent currently lives in Austin, Texas, where she released her debut CD, “Deep Black Water,” in April 2011.

Jessica Brent promises a follow-up CD to her 2003 release “Deerskin Jacket” later this year.

Eden Brent has three CD’s – “Something Cool,” “Mississippi 1,” “Ain’t Got No Troubles,” and is again nominated for the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year Blues Music Award. Brent has collected three Blues Music  awards over the past few years.
