GREENVILLE ARTS COUNCIL FALL CLASS SCHEDULE
As class space is limited, we encourage you to register early. A non-refundable $25 deposit is due a week before the class begins in order to reserve your spot; the rest of the payment is due at the first class. - Adult Pottery Class
Tuesdays, 10:00 am – 11:30 am from September 13 – October 11 (5 weeks) $75 for Non-GAC Members, $65 for GAC Members Acclaimed local potter, Mr. Richard Dattel, will teach participants how to throw a variety of pieces on the ceramics wheel. Cost includes all supplies. Limited to 5 students.
- Elementary Art Class
Tuesdays, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm from September 13 – October 25 (7 weeks) $70 for Non-GAC Members, $60 for GAC Members From over the river, Ms. Tracy Norrell of Lake Village, AR, will be bringing her talents to the Greenville Arts Council to teach a range of art mediums to Kindergarten – Fourth Graders. Cost includes all supplies. Limited to 15 students.
- Music for Minnows
Wednesdays, 10:00 am – 10:45 am from September 14 – November 2 (8 weeks) $60 for Non-GAC Members, $50 for GAC Members Music for Minnows is back! Local music teacher, Ms. Leanna Salley, will teach the basics of music to children between 1 and 5 years old. Cost includes a CD, music book, and an instrument. Limited to 12 students. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend with their child.
- 3-D and Mixed Media Art Class
Thursdays, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm from September 15 – October 13 (5 weeks) $50 for Non-GAC Members, $40 for GAC Members Looking for a class for students in 5 -12 grade? Ms. Alana Burman will return to E.E. Bass after teaching at the Greenville Renaissance Scholar’s summer camp to work with students on a variety of 3-D and mixed media projects. Cost includes all supplies. Limited to 15 students.
- Adult Pottery – CEU Credits Available
Thursdays, 5:00 pm-6:30 pm from September 15-October 28 (7 weeks) $75 for Non-GAC Members, $65 for GAC Members Acclaimed local potter, Ms. Kathy Smith, will teach participants how to throw a variety of pieces on the ceramics wheel as well as basic hand building techniques. Cost includes all supplies. Limited to 10 students. This class offers an option for 1 CEU credit for an additional $15.
- Stephanie Artz’s Professional Development for Educators
Saturday, September 10, 8:00 am-3:00 pm, Melissa Manning Elementary School FREE for WSLD and GPSD teachers, $60 for the general public Stephanie Artz was a ballet dancer in the Ballet Arts Ensemble in Nashua, New Hampshire from 1979-1984. She offers classes for K-12 in dance, movement, partnering, and authentic movement tied to curriculum in history and mathematics. Ms. Artz will be working with K-6th grade educators to demonstrate a variety of approaches on how to integrate dance and movement into the Mississippi State Frameworks for Math and Social Sciences. - Dr. John Hunt’s Professional Development for Educators
Saturday, September 24, 8:00 am-3:00 pm, Jake and Freda Stein Hall FREE for WSLD and GPSD teachers, $60 for the general public. Dr. Hunt will demonstrate a variety of ways to engage students in science projects. His methods break down step by step how teachers can use small experiments to grab a student’s attention and get them excited for learning. His session makes clear connections to Science Mississippi State Frameworks and provides take away lessons for the teachers to use in their classrooms.
