Movie Night at Bass: Win Riley’s Walker Percy

The Greenville Arts Council invites the entire community to come join us in Jake and Freda Stein Hall on September 1, 2011, at 6:30 pm for our fall movie screening, Win Riley’s Walker Percy: A Documentary Film.

New Orleans writer and producer, Win Riley is an award winning director. His first documentary film, “Walker Anderson: Realizations of an Artist” won several awards and was broadcasted on PBS. After three years in the making, Riley released his latest project this year, Walker Percy: A Documentary Film based off the life and ideas of Southern author Walker Percy.

As a writer and philosopher, Percy’s work reflects questions like “who are we?” “where do we come from?” and “where are we going?”.  Join us as we explore and celebrate the ideas and philosophical contributions of novelist and one of Greenville’s very own. This one hour documentary tells the story of Percy’s life with archival film, excerpts from Percy’s work, and interviews with family, friends, and scholars. To view a trailer for Walker Percy, please visit the film’s website at: http://www.walkerpercymovie.com/ .

Following the documentary will be a personal reflection of Percy’s life by his nephew, Billy Percy. There will be an admission fee of $10 which will include unlimited popcorn and sodas. Other beverages will be available for purchase as well.

There will also be Walker Percy books and other merchandise available for purchase courtesy of McCormick Book Inn.

For more information about the movie screening or other events please call the GAC office at 662-332-2246 or visit our website at http://www.greenville-arts-council.com/.
