Fun GAC fact: H.C. Porter

The Greenville Arts Council will be hosting H.C. Porter’s Mississippi in the Roger D. Malkin Gallery. The opening reception will be on August 25, 2011 from 5-7 PM.

Did you know that the first artwork in the Greenville Arts Council’s Permanent Collection was a heliograph by H.C. Porter? Yes, that is right. Back in the late 90’s there was a Blues exhibit and Seymour Weiss bought the print for the Greenville Arts Council to start the collection. Want to come see the first art work to be part of the permanent collection? Come check it out in the GAC office!

We are excited to have H.C. Porter share her work with us and are looking forward to a great opening. Mark your calendar!

Thanks, Amy Baskin for that fun H.C. Porter fact!
