Juried 4th Biennial Invitational Winners
GREENVILLE — The Greenville Arts Council held another successful art opening for the Juried 4th Biennial Invitational on Friday evening, June 3, 2011, at the E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center in Greenville.
The Invitational includes the works of more than 30 artists from all over Mississippi. The show was juried by recognized architect and watercolorist, Laurin McCracken who selected the participants and the award recipients.
The Greenville Arts Council was proud to present the following awards at the Invitational opening: Five Merit Awards were presented to Rick Anderson of Clinton, MS; Gabriella DeLawey of Grenada, MS; Don Norris of Hattiesburg, MS; H.E. Bass of Olive Branch, MS and Pat Walker of Rollingfork, MS.
Two $500 Purchase Prize Awards were presented to Allan Innman of Oxford, MS; and Paul Smith of Brandon, MS and One $1000 Best in Show, Purchase Prize Award was awarded to Mary Courtney Black of Greenville, MS.
“Even with the heat of summer upon us—we had a great turnout at this year’s Juried Invitational! I continue to encourage the community to stop by the Roger D. Malkin Gallery to see the diverse artworks from all over the state. I would also like to thank our many sponsors for making the opening and awards possible; Washington County CVB, Greenville Clearing House, Monsanto, Infinite Concepts, Mr. and Mrs. William Lane, III, Sherrilyn Jordan, Mary and Charles Hardy, Delta Artist’s Association, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gines, and Dr. and Mrs. Steven Chapman,” stated MacKenzie Stroh, executive director of the Greenville Arts Council.
The Greenville Arts Council’s Juried 4th Biennial Invitational was sponsored by the Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Invitational exhibit will be displayed at the Greenville Arts Council in the Roger D. Malkin Gallery until July 29, 2011. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10 AM – 4 PM and Saturday by appointment only.
