GAC is Hosting 120 College Students in March!

The Greenville Arts Council is excited to announce that we will be hosting 120 college students on alternative spring break trips in the month of March. Three different groups of college students (40 students each) from the service organization Students Today Leaders Forever will be making Greenville and the Greenville Arts Council/E.E. Bass a stop on the Pay It Forward Tour, where they will be participating in a variety of four hour long service projects. To date, the group has had nearly 9,500 volunteers and has provided over 115,000 hours of community service across the county.

The groups will be staying at E.E. Bass overnight the day prior to their service project on the following dates:
March 5th/6th – Illinois State University
March 7th/8th – Michigan State University
March 15th/16th – College of St. Scholastica

While the groups are here, we would like to show them a warm welcome and thank them for their service to our community – 480 service hours! We are looking to provide dinner and breakfast as a thank you to these dedicated volunteers and are seeking local organizations, churches, businesses or individuals to host the meals. As E.E. Bass has a kitchen facility, a meal can be cooked here or can be brought in to the building; the groups are typically limited in traveling into the community, however if it can be confirmed ahead of time we can surely accommodate that.

The service projects will be open to any interested participants in the community, final details concerning the projects time will be made available within the next two weeks as the groups finalize their travel plans. Groups working with middle or high-school aged students should consider attending the event on March 6th for the opportunity to have their students meet and interact with college students from a different part of the country.

In-kind donations of supplies are also welcome, suggested items for the service projects include: bleach, face masks, mops, brooms, paint, paint brushes/rollers, garbage bags, and gardening tools

Those interested in hosting a meal for the students, donating supplies, or that want to learn more about the projects, should contact Megan Hines at the Greenville Arts Council at either 662-332-2246 or
